During the past 20 plus years the Newsboys have gone through a great deal of transition including musical styles and member changes. In 2009 the Newsboys saw their biggest transition to date with the final remaining original band member, Peter Furler, deciding to leave the band. In his place is Michael Tait, solo artist and former lead singer of dc Talk.

On July 13, 2010 the Newsboys will released Born Again, their first studio album with Tait as lead singer and early impressions have been positive. While long time Newsboys fans who have already been missing the backing vocals of former member Phil Joel, may find it a bit jarring to also now be without the vocals of Peter Furler. Of the tracks that have been released so far most of them come across as a fusion of Tait’s solo work and Newsboys.

Perhaps realizing that fans may be uneasy with the new direction of the band, the Newsboys made a music video for the song “Born Again” and released it several months ahead of the album in order to build anticipation. So far it seems to be working do largely to the fact that “Born Again” is such a good song. Below is the official music video for the title track:

   I am impressed by Born Again. I loved the entire album. Wow! I hope Running To You gets released as a single. It’s my favorite track.
